5.0 of 5 stars Sony Cyber Shot T90 vs Canon Power Shot SD780IS, June 2, 2009

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Before I conducted this next to each other comparison, I purchased and returned the Olympus Tough 6000, Casio EX FC 100 and Casio Exilim EX S10. The Olympus took awful pictures. The S10 was just blah no real feature improvements belonging to the Exilim 5MP May very well now. The FC 100 was just too large.

So yes, We are picky! I needed a smallish, sexy, functioning, user friendly, superior camera. I'm torn between your Canon Powershot 780IS and Sony Cyber Shot T90. I visited with both from a local store and was still undecided besides Amazon prices were much cheaper. I ordered both and did a side by side comparison around my home. The Canon went back sorry Powershot.

Here's the scoop. Exclusively for base leveling I just like to take good pictures of my dogs and garden and husband and merely life. I'm not an established. I mostly post my pictures facebook or email very rarely does an individual print.

Both cameras were sexy and small. Both were hefty and felt solid. Both require you eliminate the battery to charge it. That's about where similarities end.

The Canon menu interface was clunky not intuitive. I haven't used either label of camera previously well , i can offer no bias from previous experience. Simple items like changing the image setting took a couple of minutes to figure out. The Sony contains a touchscreen which initially I believed was just hype. What i'm saying is really, Ashton is cute and everything but I will not demand touchscreen technology. Going to tried on the extender!! It rocks!! Very easy to navigate. Quick to find out and very functional.

The T90 is nearly completely automatic. Just one feature missing could be the "make me look skinny" setting. Plus in auto mode the digital camera informs you of which setting is selected (portrait, landscape, gourmet food seriously). In order to don't need to worry if your primary mountains may be like sushi or the opposite way round. The smile detection happens automatically any time you relax and take a picture of a face. It's fails on dogs nevertheless did recognize a Barbie doll face. You'll find lots of features like touching the screen to pay attention to individuals or object with the auto focus. Smile settings little smile, medium, and big. The screen is known as a nice size for viewing and sharing at that moment. And seriously, it has a gourmet food setting. May very well not a clue why but it's cool. Gleam beach setting, snow setting and underwater setting (camera is not really waterproof).

The problem breaker was the image quality. I took at picture of the same scenes with both cameras all at once. Both camera set to auto setting after which set to landscape. I uploaded all pictures to my laptop and viewed them in your format and size completely from the digital camera. The Sony pictures were more vibrant, had more detail and were crisp. Specialists my better half to percieve a next to each other within the pictures he picked the Sony pictures, on top of that. Through experience i tested the picture stabilization on both cameras. The Sony again was superior. Neither camera did well lake jumped up a down while supplementing with shot. But, the Sony outperformed handy wobbling. So, done!! The Sony won.

The Sony has less shutter lag and shorter "boot up time". I want the touch screen. You is small, simple to use and fun. The image quality is a plus.
