5.0 outside of 5 stars A Fantastic camera, but a really really crappy lens., June 19, 2008
This camera really is unbelievable for those price. If we're preaching about the digital camera body (with out lens), I prefer it in the Canon Rebel XSi anyday (and I've used both). The drawback for Sony is usually that their lens is sooooo crappy that your image quality goes below the bathroom, and Canons lenses are generally speaking very sharp and colorful.
The solution? Minolta lenses. I received my camera in your mail this morning and now have enjoyed it day. Belonging to the second I unpacked the lens I got disappointed and before I put it on your camera. It consists of a really cheap and plasticy feel, probably currently cheap generating of only plastic. I'm actually can bet there isn't one particular part of glass in the lens (which implies, for people are a newcomer to this, that this sucks). I hang it on and affirmed the final results cant be found pretty. Don't elope to Canon's page so quickly, though bear in mind this is often a 5 star review.
What accocunts for for sony's crappy crappy lens tends to be that you should use any Minolta lens on the past 19 years. In anticipation of purchasing this camera I brought 2 Minolta lenses originating from a garage sale a couple months ago for your hundred bucks, of course , if I use them you it was eventually like magic. The autofocus still works straight away, and also the sharpness and color in addition to Sony's 14megapixel sensor have remaining this former film snob utterly impressed.
So my advice to advanced amateur photographers is to purchase this camera. However our bodies only. Save the hundred bucks to obtain your hair a Minolta lens (or two). I thought I'd throw in the additional hundred bucks utilizing this type of cam simply experience an extra lens for my collection, also it was not worth the cost. I don't know if I'll mount it onto my camera ever again. Seriously It's actually a big plastic turd. I wouldn't buy it again whether or not this was 20 bucks.
Also I learned the overall menu against this camera in under a day. The sole negative reasons for this camera (except for the crappy turd plastico lens) are that it is no full frame sensor (look this, and next evaluate if you really want to pay out and further 1300 dollars to acquire a full frame sensor DSLR), and also we have a really dumb and pointless zoom button that could be a total tragic utilization of space. I may visualize ten more used/usable functions that will have gone there instead.
Really though, I couldn't be happier utilizing this camera.
