5.0 beyond 5 stars Samsung i85 (Silver) Great Product, Crisp Pics, and simple to Use, January 19, 2008
I purchased this camera after doing a bit of lengthy research. I seen Casio Exilim EX V7(has mediocre image quality) or EX v8 (probably even more comparble for this camera) and Konica Minolta Dimage X1 (also medicore image quality) models besides, using the criteria like a small, portable camera, accompanied by a non protruding lens. Furthermore, Need be video at the least similar or superior to the Flip Video Camcorders, which may do 1 hour of second rate video in a tiny package.
I've owned this camera for two main weeks now and tried on the extender for still images, video cam, and music purposes. I've not tested it's power to play videos (PMP mode) downloaded via internet.
It works with Or windows 7 (tested), Mac OS X10.5.1 (tested), and Ubuntu Linux (tested). Windows necessitates the install disc that's included. Mac and Linux auto open their respective photo viewing software for import with no additional drivers as well as camera comes in the mail to provide a removable hard disk drive within your desktop. The included extra software only works in windows, but it is not essential except you wish to view videos downloaded online in your camera. It stores images in jpg format, videos in avi format, and music up to 320kb quality as mp3 format.
The image quality is fantastic, with crisp, sharp pictures, and good, accurate colors. Evidently this million override settings that also mean more control if desired.
It's best two features include the ASR (Anti Shake Reduction) and Face Recognition capabilities. My hands are not as steady as they quite simply was and therefore the ASR produces quality shots everytime.
The camera is quick to shoot and there's a no noticeable shutter lag (no less than when compared with these camera, a Sony DSC S85, that's now retired). Those other reviewers who complain of camera lag or bad photos in dark are usually not while using appropriate settings. The digital camera has different settings, such as night, "cafe", fireworks, together with other settings they may be what they already want and they won't understand that settings just like "ISO 1600", etc. I cause them to become read the clear manual and try it again...
This camera uses standard SD cards and that i use both a Dane Elec 4GB 133x Sdcard as well as a 2 GB SanDisk Ultra II Sdcard. I've got easily recorded sixty minutes videos with such with room to spare. It's got several settings for frames each and every minute it will do 30fps at 640 x 480. This format is definitely become a DVD jointly with your favorite computer software.
The i pod mp3 player produces great quality sound and features an equalizer that could adjust your music in line with your decision, which include Rock, Jazz, Classical, etc. Really the only drawback is that the earphones included usually aren't as long as hi fi standards and when you have to upgrade the earbuds, the earphone socket is 2.5mm bigger (a smaller size and that is usually spent on mobile phone devices). If you desire to enter your Grado headphones you will have an adaptor (and that is not included).
In summary, I highly recommend this camera/multi device. If you're searching for any convenient camera designed to produce very satisfying results, it's it.
