5.0 beyond 5 stars Fantastic camera! Incredible photos!, September 5, 2008
This review is from: Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ28K 10MP Photographic camera with 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black) (Electronics)
I have been using a Panasonic TZ1 for your little over a couple of years. Would you nice 10x zoom pocket camera. Nonetheless its ISO is a bit low for indoor use. The shutter lag of TZ1 also cannot you ought to be my growing two year old twins. They move too quickly to your camera to chase.
My main use to the new camera is always record my kids life. Occasionally, I extend my artistic interest to scenes, buildings, animals, insects, flowers...
I've had this camera in a week and took over 1000 photos. It's simply fantastic.
Things I favor:
1. The shutter response is so much more advanced than my old camera. In most cases, it will eventually focus quickly and accurately. I personally use them iA mode occasionally. Most time, I set it at program mode with Fn(Function)button developed to select different focus mode. Unlike among the reviewers, Personally i think life style responsive. And Face Recognition works for this Camera.
2. The lens is incredible. You possibly can capture incredible photos far and near.
3. Wonderful IQ! I constantly play around with different shooting modes and do comparison shot. I must say that the iA(intelligent auto) mode in many cases does on a better job in focusing, exposure, white balance, etc than I actually do(Hard to admit a device is sensible than I'm sure. : D). I'm still trying and learning. But I think eventually I'd personally stop eating and allow iA totally controls me.
4. The menu system is well written. I'm only half way because of the manual(Probably I'll never finish similar half). But there's truly function I hesitate to utilize or feel frustrated when maneuvering on the menu system.
5. The lay out for the buttons is well thought out. I especially like the dedicated record/playback button. Why no one else considered it. So convenient! Find it irresistible.
6. LCD. Be thought of as the brightest LCD I ever endured. It is all totally nicely detailed.
Things I do believe another gen Panasonic FZ should improve:
1. ISO. Concerning very usable photos which you'll find shot at ISO 400. But there are definite times Lets hope the ISO would be even higher for low light conditions.
2. Ghost band(Purple/blue vertical lines) on LCD in strong direct light condition. Such a thing happens many digicam system. But I believe it shows even more using this camera.
I frequent dpreview. Some individuals there(Plenty never set their fingers on the camera) complain around the small EVF of the camera. I primarily use LCD to have pictures. Thus i don't really love EVF. But that they are fair and objective, I could EVF with about 100 photos. It's clear, bright and nice.
Conclusion: It's a fantastic super zoom camera which is able to take incredible photos. A pleasant step up from simple P&S. Exactly what are you delays for? (Panasonic didn't pay me to imply a final line)
Update 09/30/2008: I employing this camera for one month. Huge amounts photos taken. As often as needed I'm stunned at this camera. This is a classic versatile camera. It does take excellent photos under a broad range conditions. It's difficult to continue wrong using this camera.
Update 12/27/2008: Many experts have four months since I got the camera. The more Profit it, the more I appreciate its functionality, features and construction. Best buy ever.
Update 04/14/2009: I discovered that my computer/camera illiterate wife uses this camera a whole lot more than I. (Of course, she spends longer with the twins too. )She was intimated by lots of the buttons during the time pictures purchased it. Now she just leaves the setting at AI and doesn't bother to wreck havoc on everything else. Photos as a general rule turned into perfect. Nothing says a lot of camera than this. Great job Panasonic!!!
