In my opionion, the Panasonic DMC FX8 and FX9 work best choices during the ultra compact camera category. May very well owned a selection of the Canon SD cameras (SD200 and SD300) along with the pictures caused by the FX7/8/9 are vastly superior, esp. with Indoor Shots. The picture Stabilization really helps in Indoor, Low Light Settings which for anybody who is as i am, is to try and go ahead and take flavor your snapshots. The Canon SD500/550 are arguably better cameras an enormous bigger sensor, 7 MPs, and stronger flash But you are not small enough to toss into my front pocket (a pre requisite). Structure cracked LCD screens, google "Canon and Cracked LCD Screen". It's not at all an isolated problem! The ideal precaution you can actually take is two fold. Get yourself a LCD screen protector or a hard camera case (I review one in every of each btw).

Finally, the FX8/FX9 have corrected each of the major complaints people had considering the popular and well regarded DMC FX7. They now boast a faster AF, a longer lasting battery and 640x480 Movie Mode. Should they had manual controls, on many occasions they'd are coming up with the elusive "perfect ultra compact" camera!
