Orion is very happy to introduce generation x of premium CCD imagers: the Parsec Astronomical Imaging Cameras. This bright new family comes with a full frame 8.3 megapixel (8.5 effective) Kodak CCD chip. You get amazing results and the highest resolution, all for any modest investment. The Parsec provides lots of cutting edge technology and features that today's serious CCD imager demands, just like regulated dual stage cooling, internal shutter, internal full frame 32 megabyte memory buffer, plus much more. Nonetheless, it remains amazingly affordable. You find superior performance, but at the significantly low cost. Its compact size (4x4" wide, 3" long) comes with a sleek fit for practically any imaging telescope configuration. The powerful Parsec is made surrounding the CCD chip's square 5.4 micron x 5.4 micron pixel size for superior resolution using Kodak's microlens technology for maximum sensitivity. Regulated dual stage thermoelectric cooling (TEC) and adjustable fan dramatically reduces thermal noise. Accurate dark frames is generally taken automatically. Because of the internal shutter there is no really need to cover the telescope! The inner full frame memory buffer ensures reliable image downloads on every occasion, by a USB 2.0 connection (10' USB cable and 10' power cable appropriate for 12 volt DC cigarette lighter sockets included).

5.0 using 5 stars Fantastic camera! Incredible photos!, September 5, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ28K 10MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black) (Electronics)
I have owned a Panasonic TZ1 for that little over eighteen months. That is the nice 10x zoom pocket camera. However ISO is a bit low for indoor use. The shutter lag of TZ1 also cannot get caught up with my growing two year old twins. They move too quickly towards the camera to chase.

My main use for your new camera could be to record the children life. Ever so often, I extend my artistic interest to scenes, buildings, animals, insects, flowers...

I've had this camera to get a week and took over 1000 photos. It's simply fantastic.

Things I want:
1. The shutter response is much much superior to my old camera. Typically, it may focus quickly and accurately. Profit iA mode occasionally. Most time, I set it at program mode with Fn(Function)button programmed to select different focus mode. Despite one of several reviewers, Personally i think it is extremely responsive. And Face Recognition really works within this Camera.
2. The lens is a plus. You're able to capture incredible photos far and near.
3. Wonderful IQ! I constantly play around with assorted shooting modes and do comparison shot. I must say how the iA(intelligent auto) mode often does a more satisfactory job in focusing, exposure, white balance, etc than We do(Difficult admit a piece of equipment is sensible than My organization is. : D). I'm still trying and learning. But Personally i think eventually I would throw in the towel and allow the iA totally controls me.
4. The menu method is well written. I'm only half way from the manual(Probably I'll never finish similar half). But there is not much of a function I hesitate to implement or feel frustrated when maneuvering in the menu system.
5. The lay out with the buttons is well thought out. I especially for instance the dedicated record/playback button. Why no one else pondered it. So convenient! Find it irresistible.
6. LCD. Perhaps the brightest LCD I ever had. Things are all nicely detailed.

Things I do think the next gen Panasonic FZ should improve:
1. ISO. We've very usable photos which you'll find shot at ISO 400. But there are a few times Hopefully the ISO can be even higher for low light conditions.
2. Ghost band(Purple/blue vertical lines) on LCD in strong direct light condition. Such a thing happens to several dslr camera system. But I'm it shows a bit more with this camera.

I frequent dpreview. A few people there(Plenty never set their fingers on the camera) complain concerning the small EVF of this camera. I primarily use LCD for carrying pictures. Then i don't really are concerned about EVF. But being fair and objective, Cleaning it once a EVF with about 100 photos. It's clear, bright and nice.

Conclusion: It's actually a fantastic super zoom camera which could take incredible photos. A step up from simple P&S. What exactly you waiting? (Panasonic didn't pay me to express the third line)

Update 09/30/2008: I have been previously making use of this camera for about 4 weeks. Literally thousands photos taken. Over and over I'm afraid of this camera. It is a classic versatile camera. Requires excellent photos within a wide range conditions. It's difficult to visit wrong with this particular camera.

Update 12/27/2008: It is often four months since I got the camera. The better Cash in it, greater I appreciate its functionality, features and building. Biggest score ever.

Update 04/14/2009: I discovered that my computer/camera illiterate wife uses this camera even more than Anways , i do. (Surely, she spends more aided by the twins too. )She was intimated by every one of the buttons the moment pictures got it. Now she just leaves the setting at AI and bother to wreck havoc on the rest. Photos as a general rule end up perfect. Nothing says is really a great camera than this. Great job Panasonic!!!
