This review is from: Olympus Evolt E420 10MP Digital SLR Camera with 25mm f/2.8 Pancake Zuiko Lens (Electronics) I manipulate every OLYMPUS dSLR (exception being the E 300 & E 400). I prefer the Olympus E 3 for my paid work and find it a great camera. But like a good deal of you, We need a camera with SLR quality to place around without the weight of my workhorse E 3. Enter in the E 420, a bare jewel from the camera whose IQ is first rate especially when in comparison to its market segment (Canon Rebels, Nikon D40/D60/D80, Pentax K200D, etc.). The gradation is fantastic, rivaling even my E 3. And coupling this, the smallest dSLR body together with the new Pancake lens (25mm f/2.8, equivalant to 50mm in whole Frame) along with a near 'pocketable' (will depend on the length of the pocket) dSLR capable of taking phenomenal photos. Now, has it been a global beater? No. Nevertheless it isn't meant to be. Its created for individuals that want SMALL, but for whom Image Quality MATTERS. And here, it scores a fantastic 10 (or 5 STARS however). Regarding negative comment about focus points (you want 51 focus points, go spend 5K at the Nikon D3... truly a great camera, but marketed to a different one segment of shutterbugs). And i also have no idea what the reviewer was revealing poor performance in low light (nevertheless this is a greater portion of a lens issue on any camera), all I say is NONSENSE. It is doing fine. No better and certainly no worse than many of the other 20+ dSLRs I've shot with. The fact is that, I used it as a 2nd camera after a 50th wedding anniversary party I became hired to shoot. Worn the extender Indoors. It did great. I got great photos and the client doesn't understand what exited the E 3 or even the E 420. The pictures are that good. Instead of want 'pocketable', but you will prefer to compromise on Image Quality, then go ahead and pick this baby up. It is likely that Buyer's Remorse is far smaller than this camera. There after, You simply do some thing more. ...Enjoy.
