5.0 due to 5 stars Excellent still & movie camera (2 in 1), May 5, 2007
I've been reasonably impressed with Sanyo's offerings regarding lawn movers recently and still have used the predecessors for the CG6, like HD1 and VPC C6. Both cameras are reasonable, but were absolutely hopeless in low light conditions (ISO400), the CG6 offers an ISO of 1600 (finally) giving considered one of Sanyo's offering standard low light capabilities on par with the other premium cameras, meaning I should have video many of my more embarrassing pub crawls, however , not my night club adventures.
The mic (that are part of the screen) is surprisingly sensitive, especially to sounds emanating close by, but very resistant against wind and background noise including tapping or brushing in the mic.
The video quality is 640x480 and its in MP4 format (quicktime) which happens to be comparable in quality to your latest iTunes movie downloads of the resolution, though you can adjust so that it is of lower quality. The photos are 6 megapixels which speaks for itself.
PC or Mac Connection is accomplished using a standard USB cable this doubles to provide a charger. Battery seems reasonable as also does the charge time, but having never filmed for more than an hour or so with not a recharge We would be careful on long trips.
Despite a few minor drawbacks I'd endorse this camera, it's reasonably durable and fits easily in ones pocket or maybe a generic soft compact camera case. Personally I accept it everywhere, I enjoy start filming and then pass the camera among friends just the summer minutes, in a while people forget it's there, and then you're left with a multiple perspective view of this previous night, quite definitely well worth the high price.
My only complaints is:
1.) No take rapid photographs like the Canon range can, nor did it take photographs one after another in rapid succession.
2.) No built in lens cap, (there is simply a removable the one that can be purchased in the particular).
3.) Slight noise with still pictures (vastly improved over previous models, but slightly more noticeable than with other brands).
4.) Awkward to face upright at a surface, but possible.
5.) Little warning prior to a battery expires.
