Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This stands out as the very first time that we bought a new generation in the marketplace. Typically, I purchase something once it has been reviewed not less than The regular few months, but I did to switch the "family point and shoot" before Easter. I had been replacing my old Nikon Coolpix 5900 (that is a tad bulky, but took FANTASTIC photos). I should say also loved motion picture quality. I stayed when using the Nikon family because it's whatever know, and i also just am not all set to pay a lot of for those Canon lines (and that i hate the photo quality can't explain, but I love my Nikon better).

I got the camera Two weeks ago, therefore far I've found:
1) That it's incredibly small that could be bad and the good. It might go anywhere, but holding it making you sorts of nervous, as if you could drop it easily.
2)The massive viewscreen is large, and I am very worried which may drop it and shatter it easily. You itself is very smooth, and feels "slippery" up to you.
3) The only one complaint we know I even had with my old Nikon shutter/recovery time is slow using this camera you can't just "click" away. Marriage ceremony so nice once you have fidgety children, and you also would like to capture a few minutes.
4) The scene/mode setup has slightly changed personally, also to be able to a further "mode", you simply can't just turn the dial, like I did so along the old 5900, you have to push a few more buttons. This is tedious as you are moving from different environments, and also alter the settings.
5) The best complaint Relating to is that this camera is provides a very sensitive at autofocusing, and in line with whatever have observed up to now, you will not regret take pictures closeup if you can't actually set it for the macro mode.

I don't even think Let me put it back because I have discovered that unfortunately, these new digital camera models don't seem to last, and i also won't invest over $200 for only a compact digital. This can be good for most quick shots when you find yourself from a tight schedule, and will integrate your back pocket. For your better photos, I personally use my D80 (this can be a dream).

4/4/08 UPDATE I have tried personally the camera a tad bit more. We've noted that:
1) to find the shots to be sold, you really ought to become quite knowledgeable with ways to adjust your settings (exposure compensation, mode, source of light, white balance, etc.) READ THE MANUAL, and employ. When you figure that out, your pictures are fine. This definitely does buy a little tedius as you are trying to capture that moment with fidgeting subjects (i.e. children & animals).
2) Also, the flicks may not be MPG's anymore automobile in the AVI format. They still turn up fine, and the mic is SUPERSENSITIVE
3) The latch to your battery compartment continues to be the same this worries me as this is what failed on my 5900, (and my mom's Canon). Once that went, (and that we continued vacation), the digital camera never was exactly the same (i.e. beach air, sand, AC you do the math). You will think they can fix this concern, but My group is seeing it without requiring one specific line, but others on top of that.
4) I am not a real fan on the way you switch from regular camera, into a specific scene (i.e. indoors, niteshots, etc), to movie mode. You will have to push a MODE button, scroll, and be able to push OK. The buttons in the back overlap with my old 5900, just a little smaller (men with big fingers could easily get annoyed easily).
5) The on/off button is TINY and is also right in at the side of the button that you to adopt the photos/and take videos (over the rest the digital camera). Honestly, I confuse them sometimes, and will eventually turn your camera off as i would like to find a video.

All in most,Generally if i could do once again, I wouldn't go ultracompact and would go slighter. It serves it's purpose, there are plenty of you receive that which you acquired.

UPDATE 1/9/09: By September 08, I needed to get another camera because this one thought they would fail on my in laws vacation I will be TRULY no fan for this camera (the Lens just made a decision to not open and close). I can just give it to my 4 yr old, and let her explore it. I gambled but happened to be the waterproof Pentax, while far, My organization is pleased (not elated, but would be satisfied for now).
