5.0 outside 5 stars It is classy and it takes great pictures, March 13, 2010
I will endeavor to express one thing Concerning discovered concerning this camera, other ways my thoughts, Lets hope they can be of help .
Some things I am compairing to somewhat of a canon SD1200 and therefore the SD940, SD1400.
I do not use the viedo enough to evaluate that the main cameras.
** No SD storage device offered with this camera **, see below
* Some will miss a person's eye viewfinder the fact that SD1200 has.
* Many will miss the HD 720p while in the movie mode that your SD940,SD1400 has, The SD1300 has 640x480 at 30fps for instance the canon SD1200, G11 and S90.
* The SD1300 has ( no optical zoom while recording video ) just digital zoom.
* There is also a date feature about the SD1300, see below
* The flat button arangement is the same as the SD1200 nearly the (( Power Button )) above is larger and simpler to turn don and doff, I enjoy that ( but be careful ) quite simple can happen in your pocket, purse or in your soft camera case.
* I've not had any difficulty using the buttons besides my big old hands. The flat buttons at the SD1300 absolutely are a ( tad larger than about the SD940 and SD1400 ).
* The menu screens are large and readable and use.*
* You receive a 2.7inch precise LCD screen that features a (superior and wide viewing angle in all directions).
Note > whenever your LCD screen is placed towards a lower brightness it is easy to push and hold down the display button for 1 second and it will proceed to the brightest setting and try this again and it will settle for the fewer setting...
A 28mm x 112mm lens, slightly as good as the 35 x 105 for the SD1200 ( But no view finder to the SD1300 ).
* The SD1300 could be very convenient to use and small enough to transport everywhere opt for those spontaneous grand kid pictures including the SD 1200 was .
Just a fairly good basic camera.
* I appreciate the mic for that video elevates the front of one's camera as an alternative to standing on the most notable (where I put my finger) similar to the canon SD970 whilst others, it accumulates less finger movement noise finding myself in the top.
** Timing and Performance** ( Using program mode )> Really quick starting time of approximately 1 sec.
I will not tell any difference in shot to shot or flash shot to shot times concerning the SD1300 and also the SD1200 with them from the program mode, which can be ( 2secs with no need of the flash ), and 3 to 4secs along with the flash on, (( close to 6secs for full flash recharge )).
(Update > A part of review sites(C NET) increasingly becoming around 2.7 to three seconds for those SD1300 between shots with out the flash so that i grabed the 2 main cameras and tryed both again(SD1300 SD1200) with is actually your flash on and i also had identical results both ways, ((I used program mode)) both times and so they would focus and recharge the flash evenly also...)
Shutter lag is good for a canon compact digital but since you ( pre focus ) which can help further. To pre focas > > Push shutter button down midway untill camera beeps and green square apears on LCD screen, picture has to be clearly in focas when this happens, otherwise let standing on the shutter button and repeat the steps again. these steps will in addition help have a good clear (in focas) picture, just something if you want to try if your main issues delivering your picture.
I never tested the continuous shooting( but see my battery test) but canon says it can be 0.9 per sec the place that the sd 1200 is 1.4 shots per sec, if that is important to you. UPDATE > The 1200 does sound like faster, quicker as opposed to 1300 in continuous mode, what amount of I dont know but you can say to the actual...
* (Battery) Used to do test the battery (NB 6L same battery as SD1200) by applying continuous shooting mode ( using the flash on ) but happened to be around 400 pictures therefore it was taking ( 1 picture every 2 seconds or less during the continuous mode( flash on ) if assists you to out on the continuous shooting part, as I turned the flash off it seemed to do prety good from the newer small canon point and shoot world.
* (Battery). In the real world I purchase around 300 if not more pictures which include ones together with the flash, your still want a second battery for one backup.
* The battery posesses a little larger capacity at 1000mAh within the SD1300, were because the canon SD940 and also the SD1400 may be a smaller capacity at 760mAh in the event it matters back to you.
** A nice backup battery rrs really a (power2000) for canon NB 6L (1200mAh)$19.00. I have used them consistently.
I appreciate it charger that comes with the digital camera, it will be small and charges quickley, about one and a half hours the first charge and 60 minutes or less there after...
Some set back the brightness within the LCD two notches of saving some battery. I'm sure your new battery will conduct better after the initial two charges.
* 10/30/2010 Around the Columbus zoo we shot 350 pictures and much of them with flash on with one charge...
** Really good image quality keeping the iso at 200 and below.
I am getting comparable image quality being the SD 1200 that is certainly pretty decent for this small size point and shoot camera.
* As point and shoots advance we often attempt to compare the theifs to digital SLRs ( speed, noise, ISOs, picture quality ) but due to the point and shoots smaller sensors and craming all the mega pixels into them it is just asking to much of small cameras....
Fewer pixels mean there's more room for the sensor as well as individual pixels can be achieved larger collect more light, making the digital camera able to better record low noise images in low light situations.
This can be me, but I love while using the program mode and 100,200iso best and I try not to use a auto mode indoors ((auto works good outdoors in good light though, Lighting is everything. Indoors many times auto generally seems to desire to use a (huge iso)(and sometimes no flash) to have low light photos, but this just translates to more noise, that creates your pictures look noisy grainy or snowy looking on larger prints,(or the yellow tint that some are speaking about).
* Cash in program mode and hang the iso indoors to (( 100iso ))in good light conditions or ( 200 iso ) in poorer light indoors for image quality indoors without the need of all noise inside picture. Again auto does good outdoors in good light but keep your eye on the iso in auto indoors...
* Portrait mode does better indoors than auto to keep the iso down. It uses 200iso and below. pretty good...
*They have also recinded the supper fine quality option during the last few years , you've just got fine and normal now, I miss the supper fine option...
The more I exploit this camera slightly more I find myself useing ( 100iso in program mode ) in good light conditions outdoors or indoors). Again indoors it's likely you have to employ 200 to acquire the picture that appeals to you...
** Just a side note, before judgeing you your picture on your desktop or camera screen have some pictures printed out, why I say i thought the wonderful pictures which i took with the rest home were just ok, but I took them how to the store together 8 by 10s made and then they look so plenty of better, you can observe these pictures on this site under (view and share images for the SD1300s web page). I wish you can actually be aware of the printed ones...
* A lot of the review sites blow there pictures way up to check out defects, your about to only make 5x7 or 8x10s and not see (what gachisites see).
If you are likely to make larger prints or need better (low light camera) whilst still being stop in a point and shoot you might go together with a canon S90, S95 or go with the bigger G11, G12, but (a whole lot more money I recognize)! Just useful iso down at 200 and below and you will do fine...)
* The SD1300 have an outdoor sharp lens even around the telephoto end of the zoom.
Highlights sometimes frequently fly out in very bright sun (direct light source) just like all small cameras(small sensor) this size, you will uncover this using within the pictures I posted on that sight for that 1300. ( But to generally be fair my G11 creates this change also ).
I do not use I Contrast while in the program mode while shooting, some times in play back I'm going to test it but I am not a large fan today even then, it's going to brighten the picture up in dark areas but generally seems to add to the noise somewhat, again this is just me much people frequently enjoy it and get enjoy it see what you think...
In auto mode altogether controll of I Contrast and can not power it down or on...
* I just now realy just like the colors inside pictures which the canon cameras produce, again thats just me thinking aloud.
Not much issue with red eye in pictures useing the SD1300 unless a very dim lit room where there couple of occasions when it cannot modify or repair it in red eye correction,
I have many small newer canon cameras and it's no worse or better with red eye than the rest of my newer cameras with red eye correction.
The SD1300 contains a touch more style, larger LCD rrncluding a a lot more virsatle lens rrn comparison to the SD1200, nevertheless 1200 yet another good camera.
The SD1300 is equipped with a weak battery door cover for example the SD1200.
*No Storage device * You do not get a (SD Memory) with the camera, they just do not your internet site card anymore, be aware so that you shouldn't get not having one.
A 4gb card ( class 4 or class 6 ) became a good way to start out (if your attending make use of movie mode any in the slightest degree ).
You gets by by having a 2gb ( that is good for about 632 pictures ) or even using the video mode much.
A 4gig SD card would be great for 1,231 pictures.
* If you are a novice to this camera stuff be sure to low level...
