4.0 beyond 5 stars Overall, a mouse you'll end up proud that will put on your own desk, November 15, 2004
This review is from: Logitech MX 510 Performance Optical Gaming Mouse (Red) (Electronics)
I ordered this mouse from Amazon.com the other day it arrived from after it shipped along with another item. They only keep getting faster and faster! Now, about the product itself. Now i'm very picky on mice and, since I've never owned a Logitech mouse of our, really was not wanting to purchase this model. I'm really spoiled by my Intellimouse Explorer optical (one of many earliest models) and wasn't longing for upgrading, insurance coverage the mouse was dying I'd no choice. Present day generation of Intellimouse Explorers weren't getting such rave reviews and i also also wasn't ready to jump into wireless mice at this time, since i have have the technology there's not advanced enough for daily gaming (though, when it comes to the MX1000, I may be wrong)
After weighing this mouse (the red version, the blue was more expensive of these .) about the MX1000, the fee difference and incredible reviews won me over, i really bought the MX510. After nearly a week's valuation on use, listed below are my impressions.
1. The MX510 is both simpler to move and even more accurate than these mouse. It moves effortlessly about the screen and my hand never gets fatigued. This mouse isn't only fitted for gaming, but excellent for virtually every task that will require Numerous mouse activity, like graphics editing by way of example.
2. I actually thought We'd never make use of the two cruise control buttons, but I see them very useful. While which the top cruise control button is up high, and you may need to reach a little bit further to get it, however my hands (which aren't all those things large) I would not think it is problematic in anyway.
3. The short Switch Program Selector is a useful one, but I find ALT+TAB turn out to be faster. However, like every buttons on this subject mouse, the MouseWare drivers from Logitech help you to map this button to just about any task that suits you, if you decide to shouldn't operate the default setting I believe you could think of the more useful action against this button.
4. Forward and Back buttons are simpler to reach and click easier than my old Intellimouse.
5. Unlike some here, I recently found the sculpt from this mouse that should be very form fitting to my hand (if you're right handed!) I really believe regarding having issues the real key are the type of with either really large or tiny hands, and thus are not to be helped.
6. The only real cavet I've found will be scroll wheel, which does not scroll quite as smoothly nor click quite just as easily as my previous mouse. I hope that, as time wears on, it would get "worn in" and function more to my liking. Truely does work fine, just takes more effort. I will live with it.
I would recommend this mouse to anyone hunting for a high performance, comfortable mouse. This might be the best non cordless model being produced today. Great job Logitech!
P.S. be sure to obtain the latest MouseWare drivers from logitech.com, and the ones in the CD are outdated. As of this writing the most recent are 9.80.
