The DMC FX8 features a 2.5 inch diagonal high resolution LCD monitor surprisingly large for such a compact camera. This high quality, 207,000 pixel display makes it easy to see your subject. For easier viewing when shooting outdoors on a sunny day, press the Power LCD button to boost the backlighting by about 40%.

Easy to See, Easy to Understand LCD Indications
In addition to displaying the settings in large, easy to understand text, the large, 2.5 inch diagonal screen lets you show up to 25 thumbnail images at once. This makes it easier to search for and organize the photos you take.

Stunning High Speed AF in a Slim Body
Select the AF setting from Spot, 1 point (normal or high speed), 3 point high speed, and 5 point. The 1 point normal setting solves the "image freezing" that used to happen while focusing on fast moving subjects, and makes them easier to track. Furthermore, the new 1 point high speed mode slashes conventional AF time to about 1/3. High speed auto focusing has finally come to the compact digital camera. Plus, the AF Assist Lamp helps when focusing in low lighting.

Super Fast Shutter Response and Mega Burst Consecutive Shooting
Thanks to the Venus Engine Plus's release time lag of only 0.008 second, the FX8 is super fast. You can snap consecutive shots at 3 frames per second with full resolution. And with Unlimited Consecutive Shooting, you can keep shooting until the memory card is full.

Leica DC Vario Elmarit Lens with 3x Optical Zoom
This slim camera features a 3x optical zoom lens (35mm equivalent: 35 to 105mm) with 7 elements in 6 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses. The Extended Optical Zoom, which minimizes the image degradation that normally occurs with digital zooming, gives you up to 4x zooming power. Plus, you can use the 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom together to produce a maximum of 12x zooming power.

Flexible Shooting to Match the Scene
Moving Image Mode
Enjoy smooth moving pictures complete with sound. Even in dimly lit situations, a new 9 pixel mixed readout method produces bright VGA size (640 x 480 pixel) moving images at 30 frames per second on large screen TVs.

Scene Mode
The FX8 features 12 scene modes that can be selected according to the shooting conditions. Pressing the left of the cursor button opens a help screen that explains what each mode is for.

More Functions, More Shots

  • Auto Angle Detection rotates vertical shots 90 degrees for easier viewing when connecting with an AV cable. This function may not work on some TV/LCD monitors.
  • Economy Mode turns off an idle LCD to save battery power. (Selectable between "Level 1" and "Level 2.")
  • PictBridge Compatible for direct printer connection

This review is from: Kodak EasyShare C875 8MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom (Electronics)
Having had a previous Kodak digital camera, this one wasn't too hard to "get to know". One thing I noticed, after playing with it for 2 days, is that it doesn't have a viewfinder. So obviously you can guess that I'm used to using the lcd display to "set up" my shots. But it seems odd not to have a viewfinder. I'll just have to get over it. I am so excited about it being an 8.0mp, and one of kodak's newest releases. I enjoy picture taking immensely, and this camera even allows you crop photos right within the camera. You can even edit video clips. Wow. And the camera also takes panoramic shots, which will require some practice but I'm excited about that feature as well. What practice shots I have taken in this mode, however, do not use flash. So I guess this is a feature left to the great outdoors, probably where most panoramic shots are taken anyway. Already having a charging dock, I failed to research to see that I would need an adapter in order to use it for the new camera. I can appreciate that that makes perfect sense, but had I done the research I probably would just have bought a plug in charger for about the same price and then had the charger dock available to sell when I sell my other camera. I was also considering the P712, but this C875 is the one for me. The camera has a pretty good feel to it, and the wrist strap is very handy. There are just so many new models out there I wonder if they all come from the same factory!! I tried an olympus 7.1mp all weather camera before purchasing the Kodak, and I just didn't like it. I look forward to several years of usage from this camera. Thanks, Kodak. You've earned my trust and my repeat business.
